Some remedies using black beans:


For back pain: 100g black beans, pounded, add a little vinegar and stir-fry until hot, apply warmly to the painful lower back area, can leave overnight. Or 50g black beans, 1 pig tail or cow tail. Stew until very tender, consume both the soup and solids.


Eat 2–3 times a week, with quite good results.


For women after childbirth who are weak, dizzy, blurred vision due to blood loss: 50g black beans, 1 black chicken, stew until very tender, consume both the soup and solids. Eat twice a week, recovers strength very quickly.


For blurred vision in the elderly, unclear sight, frequent dizziness and blurred vision: 100g black beans, 100g black sesame. Dry-roast, grind into powder, mix well. Drink twice a day, 2 teaspoons (8g) each time. Over long-term use, eyes feel more comfortable or less blurred.


For yin deficiency with excess fire (symptoms: afternoon fever, headache, flushed face, red eyes, easily angered): 50g black beans, 20g mulberry leaves. Boil in 1 liter of water, bring to a strong boil, strain and drink gradually throughout the day.


Black beans processed with He Shou Wu for nocturnal emission, impotence, weak limbs, premature graying of hair and beard: Cook 50g black beans to get the water, then steam 300g red He Shou Wu in a double boiler with the black bean water for 2–3 hours, remove and drain, dry for long-term storage. Use as decoction daily 15–20g, or grind into powder, take 5g each time.


For edema due to weak kidneys: 100g black beans, 15g cogon grass roots. Boil with 1 liter of water, drink gradually throughout the day. Can be used long-term until recovery.


For chronic hepatitis: In addition to specific medications, regularly drink water boiled from 100g black beans to help detoxify the liver.


Excessive sweating due to weakened constitution: 30g black beans, 30g floating wheat, 15g jujube dates, decoct and drink throughout the day. Or 60g black beans, 30g astragalus, decoct and drink.


Skin inflammation, ulcers due to heat toxins or poisoning from drugs and food: 30g black beans, 9g raw licorice, decoct and drink. Blood in urine: 30g black beans, 30g mung beans, 30g cogon grass roots, decoct and drink.


Vestibular disorder (frequent dizziness): 30g black beans, 45g mugwort, 1 chicken egg. Boil all three until the egg is cooked. Eat the egg, drink the decoction.


For hangover relief: Drink as much black bean decoction as possible.


For quenching thirst and relieving dry mouth at night: 80g black beans, 1 pear, 30g rock sugar, decoct and drink daily.


For rheumatism, tendon contraction, knee pain, internal heat, constipation: Soak black beans in water, sprout until sprouts are 2–3cm long, then dry. Use 1 thang (unit), add half a lang (about 18g) vinegar, mix well, roast until golden, grind finely. Take 1 small spoonful with wine before meals, 2–3 times a day, very effective.


For allergies, itching rashes, boils: Slow-roast black beans until the inside is dark golden, take 50–100g, boil and drink throughout the day.
