Of this, 8,256 hectares have been recognized as U Minh H\u1ea1 National Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here, U Minh H\u1ea1 National Park is one of the three core zones of the World Biosphere Reserve. Cape C\u00e0 Mau&#8217;s mission is to conserve and regenerate the values of natural landscapes, ecological environment, and biodiversity of the unique wetland ecosystem and melaleuca forest on peat soil; to preserve and develop the gene pool of rare flora and fauna species, cultural and spiritual values, historical relics; and to support scientific research, tourism, and visitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The U Minh H\u1ea1 Forest is overwhelmingly dominated by melaleuca trees. It is home to many animal species such as deer, wild boar, monkeys, civets, pythons, snakes, turtles, pangolins\u2026 and about 60 species of freshwater and brackish-water fish that live and take refuge here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Particularly under the forest canopy, throughout the year, diligent honeybees collect nectar from the melaleuca blossoms to build their hives, yielding large annual harvests. During the bee-eating season, visitors can follow the beekeepers of the Phong Ng\u1ea1n group into the forest to eat bee larvae and harvest honey. Here, tourists get to taste freshly cut young bee larvae dipped in the pure forest honey from U Minh melaleuca\u2014sweet and refreshing to the tip of the tongue. Visitors can also purchase pure U Minh melaleuca forest honey to use as medicine or as a thoughtful gift for loved ones.<br><br>After traversing the forest, tourists can watch or join in pond draining (t\u00e1t \u0111\u00eca), cast nets, fish with hooks, gather wild vegetables, pick water lilies\u2026 Then enjoy many unique specialties of the U Minh melaleuca forest region that are hard to find elsewhere, such as grilled whole snakehead fish (c\u00e1 l\u00f3c n\u01b0\u1edbng trui), clay-pot snakehead fish with fermented fish hotpot (c\u00e1 l\u00f3c n\u1ea5u l\u1ea9u m\u1eafm), eel stewed with noni leaves (l\u01b0\u01a1n um l\u00e1 nh\u00e0u), cobra snake porridge with mung beans (r\u1eafn h\u1ed5 h\u00e0nh n\u1ea5u ch\u00e1o \u0111\u1eadu xanh), lemongrass-stewed snake (h\u1ea7m s\u1ea3), grilled field mouse (tr\u00edch n\u01b0\u1edbng m\u1ecdi), fried field mouse, and many other rustic dishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>When visiting U Minh H\u1ea1 Melaleuca Forest, tourists can go to the homeland of Uncle Ba Phi.
